Present students with outstanding performance too were recognized for their achievements. Students representing the Cadet Platoon becoming the Runners-up in the Herman Loose Challenge Trophy – 2007, Athletes who won national competitions and the Under 17 cricket team the winners of All Island Cricket Championship – 2007.
Our past teachers Col. L.E.P.W. Jayathilake, Mr. P.A.D.A. Theodore, L. Palliyaguru and Mr. D.E. Jayaneththi who were felicitated at Mahinda Club Family Day – 2007 held on the 11 th November 2007 at Dream Village Resort, Dodanduwa.
Edithera Manukulasuriya has become 5 th in the Island at the Grade V scholarship exam held in 2007. All island under 18, 200 Meters Boys' record is ours……!!!!! Sampath Jayasekera came First in the under 18, 200 Meters final at the all island school sports meet held with a time of 22.45 seconds which is a new all island record We are under 17 school cricket champions – 2007………!!!!!!
Our Cadets are Hermann Loos Runners up – 2007…..!!!!!!
Our Cadet Platoon became 2 nd in the competition at Rantambe Camp competing for the Hermann Loos Challenge cup. Cadet O.M.T . Madushanka has become the Best Shooter in the Island and our congratulations to all our cadets. Prize Giving at Mahinda College
The prize giving was held for the years 2004 & 2005 on the 28 th September 2007. Hon. Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Education was the Chief Guest and over 700 students received around 1500 awards. Mrs. Harriot Siriwardene – Eastern Music Teacher, famously known as “Sindu Miss”) Mahinda Club Nite - 2007 Mahinda Club Nite – 2007 was held at Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on the 24 th March 2007 . A large turnout of old Mahindians and spouses graced the occasion adding glamour to the event. 1. Drawing the winning tickets – Raffle Draw 2006 2. Old Mahindians and wives on the floor 3. President and wife in action Allen & Sirisena Weerasinghe Memorial Scholarship Dr. Saman Weerasignhe, a distinguished old Mahindian and the Advisor to the Moscow Medical Academy on International Relations and Medical Educational Programmes has come forward to donate a scholarship in support of Advanced Level students at Mahinda College . Under this scheme, a scholarship is awarded to twenty 1 st year A/L students in support of their study programmes pursued at the school. Every selected student is entitled to receive a sum of Rs. 1,500.00 monthly up to the completion of their A/L examinations (1 st attempt). Students have been selected here based on their financial incapability to conduct studies to enter the University. Therefore, after the first year of operation, there will be forty (40) students receiving this scholarship at Mahinda College at any given time. Dr. Weerasinghe, being an old Mahindian and a member of Mahinda Club, has come forward to help the poor students of our Alma Mater, a great example for others to follow. A ceremony to award scholarships was held at the college Olcott Hall on the 13 th August 2007 . 1.
